As a Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in the establishment of our new central data platform, based on Snowflake. Your expertise with Snowflake, along with proficiency in dbt (data build tool) and Prefect, will ensure the robustness, scalability, and efficiency of our data operations. This role is at the heart of our newly formed technology unit, where you will collaborate with a team of experts dedicated to redefining our data infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Platform Development: Design, construct, and maintain scalable data pipelines within our Snowflake environment, ensuring optimal data flow and storage.
  • Data Transformation: Use dbt to transform and model data effectively, adhering to best practices in version control, testing, and deployment.
  • Workflow Management: Implement and maintain data workflows with Prefect, ensuring reliable scheduling, orchestration, and monitoring of data jobs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other technology team members to meet the data needs of the organization.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources, ensuring consistency and accessibility for reporting and analytics purposes.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance, fine-tune data processes, and troubleshoot any data-related issues.
  • Best Practices: Advocate for and implement best practices in data management, security, quality, and privacy.
  • Innovation: Continuously explore new tools, technologies, and approaches to enhance the data platform’s capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with Snowflake as a data warehouse solution.
  • Proficiency in data transformation and build tools, specifically dbt.
  • Experience with workflow management systems, preferably Prefect.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and experience with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes, data modeling, and data pipeline construction.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Fluent in English, German skills are a plus. 
  • German residency is mandatory for this position
